An explosion in a block of flats in Alloa, Clackmannanshire has resulted in the death of one man and injuries sustained by three others. The man who died remains unidentified. He was inside the flat at the time of the explosion and was declared dead at the scene. On Sunday evening, Police and emergency services declared a major incident at the Kellie Place property. Regardless, the cause of the explosion is still unknown. Police Scottish Sergeant Neill Drummond stated that they are still working towards the full circumstances of what happened at the property.
Three individuals who were injured have been taken to Forth Valley Royal Infirmary for treatment. Over 11 vehicles were sent following specialist units being alerted the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said. Alloa Town Hall will be used as a respite center for occupants of the other flats within the property while gas and electricity is being checked.
The police have declared that they will be “appropriately supported with alternative accommodation” if their homes are devalued unsafe to return to. A number of road closures along the A907, B9096, Kellie Place and Tullibody Road are in the process of being lifted, but additional utilities work may be required, resulting in further closures they said.
