Nick Knowles to miss Strictly Come Dancing due to injury


TV presenter Nick Knowles has withdrawn from an edition of Strictly Come Dancing after sustaining an injury. Knowles, 62, and his partner Luba Mushtuk will not perform on the forthcoming movie-themed programme. A post on Strictly’s Instagram page confirmed Knowles had been injured during rehearsals for a Charleston routine to “Rain on the Roof” from the film Paddington 2. As per the competition rules, the couple will receive a bye through to next week. Last weekend, the DIY SOS host competed despite injuring his arm and shoulder changing a tyre.

No details have been provided about Knowles’ current injury. The extent of the damage to his arm and shoulder, which he revealed on the spin-off show It Takes Two, is similarly unclear. Knowles described this week as “tough”, though he maintained that he was “very excited” to perform. Despite his injuries, Knowles and Mushtuk were highly praised by judge Shirley Ballas during their American smooth dance to Blur’s Parklife. Both of them accomplished a lot after just 16 hours of rehearsals.

Strictly Come Dancing is in its 19th series. It sees celebrities partnered with professional dancers to compete in a ballroom and Latin dance competition. A minimum of one pair is voted out each week until the final, when the overall winner is decided by public vote.
