During an investiture at Windsor Castle, the Princess of Wales met with Liz Hatton, a 16-year-old girl who suffers from an aggressive form of cancer. Despite completing chemotherapy, the Princess has yet to be declared cancer-free. The Princess invited Liz, who was also selected to take photographs of the event, to meet with her and her husband, Prince William. Liz has excelled in her photography studies, achieving the highest grade possible in the subject at GCSE level, before starting A-levels at Harrogate Grammar School. After the investiture, the meeting was arranged, and both the Prince and Princess of Wales were pleased to meet with Liz and her family to hear about her journey and the challenges she faces. Prince William and Catherine were both inspired by Liz’s strength and creativity, and Catherine, a keen photographer herself, was especially impressed by the young girl’s photographs.
Liz expressed her delight on social media, describing her meeting with the royal couple as an unforgettable experience. The event was also notable for Catherine’s attendance, as she has been out of the public eye for much of this year. Although the Palace has not confirmed whether the Princess is now cancer-free, her continued dedication to her duties has been an inspiration to many facing similar challenges
