A number of TSB customers have reported issues with payments not being processed into their accounts. On Tuesday, many took to social media to report that salaries and child benefits had not been paid. In a statement, TSB apologised and said it was working on a solution to the issues, with payments to be made as soon as possible. The bank claims that a small number of customers have been impacted.
TSB advised customers with problems to contact the bank. It also stated that those with unauthorised overdrafts would not be charged. Meanwhile, the Downdetector website, which tracks server outages, reported hundreds of grievances relating to TSB with multiple concerns about payment issues. One user, Olivia, wrote that she would need to borrow money as she had no overdraft and was overdrawn with nothing for shopping.
A significant number of customers may have expected to receive their child benefit, which is due every four weeks on Tuesdays or Mondays. Desperate and frustrated customers reported delays on social media, with one user asking instead to borrow until payments had been cleared.
It has not been long since TSB faced a six-figure penalty for its IT systems’ failures encountered in 2018. Meanwhile, in June, half a million people were denied child benefit payments because of HMRC’s technical problems
