Swiss Cottage: Man arrested over alleged Hamas support at protest

A man was apprehended after making alleged pro-Hamas chants during a protest in north London on Friday. The 27-year-old suspect was arrested after footage surfaced online showing him with a megaphone shouting at a pro-Palestine demonstration in Swiss Cottage. The individual was held under suspicion of inciting racial hatred and later detained on Sunday on suspicion of inviting support for a proscribed organization under the Terrorism Act 2000. The UK government had previously designated Hamas as a terrorist organization.

In the video, chants such as “I love an organization that starts with H” and “I love the 7th October” can be heard, which appears to reference the Hamas attack on Israel last year. The attack resulted in 1,200 fatalities and 240 people held hostage by the organization.

At present, the suspect remains in police custody, and investigations are ongoing. The authorities are continuing to monitor and investigate any activities that might incite racial hate. Anyone with any details regarding this event is encouraged to contact officials to aid in the ongoing efforts.
