Murdered banker's family have 'lost confidence' in police


The family of Alistair Wilson, the banker from Nairn who was shot and killed in front of his family home in 2004, have criticised Police Scotland, stating that they have “lost confidence” in the force and labelling them “incompetent”. Despite numerous investigations over the past 17 years, the killer has never been caught. Attitudes between the family and the police have reportedly worsened over the past 18 months following issues the family raised that remain unresolved. Alistair’s widow Veronica and son Andrew spoke to the Press and Journal newspaper about their despair and disappointment, after having seemingly “exhausted every other avenue for resolution.”

The Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain has now instructed a “complete reinvestigation” of the case, which has left the Wilson family feeling more upset.
