Mabli Hall death: Woman admits hospital crash dangerous driving

A 70-year-old woman has pled guilty to causing the death of an eight-month-old baby by dangerous driving in a crash outside a hospital. Mabli Cariad Hall, from Neath, died four days after a car hit her pram outside the Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, in June 2023. Bridget Curtis, from Begelly, Pembrokeshire, appeared in court, and she is due to be sentenced on 22 November. During the hearing, Curtis was disqualified from driving, and the judge announced that psychiatric and pre-sentence reports would be carried out.

According to reports, Curtis had voluntarily surrendered her driving licence in July. Her lawyer indicated that the 70-year-old had a full, clean driving license and no previous convictions. Curtis was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and was granted bail until the date of her sentencing. The family of Mabli described the last year as the most horrendous time of their lives in a statement. They said that they were still trying to come to terms with losing their baby girl.

Mabli’s father, Rob, was also injured in the crash, and he was present in court alongside Mabli’s wider family during the hearing. Mabli’s mother, Gwen, was clutching a soft toy during proceedings. In June, the family laid flowers at the spot where Mabli was fatally injured, one year after the accident took place. The family thanked everyone who had shown them the love and support they needed during this difficult time.

Mabli’s mother, Gwen, held a soft toy during the hearing. Gwen and Rob have been going through “the most horrendous time of our lives,” and “We will never forget that love and support shown to us and for the memory of our precious angel, Mabli Cariad.” Curtis’ sentencing has been scheduled for 22 November. Curtis’ lawyer stated that she is “absolutely devastated” to be in court. The reports added that she had no previous convictions and had relinquished her driving license voluntarily
