Families waited eight years for Letby unit report, inquiry hears


A parent revealed during a public inquiry that a report regarding the neonatal unit where infamous Child Killer Nurse Lucy Letby worked was only fully shown eight years after it was initially written. An external review was conducted in September 2016 after concerns regarding Letby were expressed by consultants at the Countess of Chester Hospital. In response, a public version of the report was posted on the hospital’s website, while a confidential and redacted copy of the report that referred to Letby was kept private. The mother of Twin Boys Baby E and Baby F expressed that she only recently saw the unredacted version of the report.

Letby, who hails from Hereford, is currently serving fifteen whole-life prison terms for her crimes including the murder of seven babies and an attempt to murder seven others between June 2015 and June 2016. Senior leaders had invited a group of investigators from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health to perform an external review of the neon
