Man charged with three murders after Bushey crossbow killings

A man has been charged with the murder of a mother and two of her daughters who were fatally injured in a crossbow attack at their home. The victims, Carol Hunt, 61, Hannah Hunt, 28, and Louise Hunt, 25, were found dead in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on July 9th. Kyle Clifford, 26, from north London, had been found injured in a cemetery in Enfield the following day and was also charged with false imprisonment and two counts of possession of offensive weapons. Mr Clifford was unable to be interviewed by the police while he received treatment for his injuries in a hospital where he remained in custody.

The victims were the wife and daughters of BBC racing commentator John Hunt. Mr Hunt and his surviving daughter, Amy, were deeply shocked by the tragedy which defies words. A GoFundMe fundraiser was set up to support Mr Hunt and his surviving daughter in the aftermath of the incident which raised over £120,000 in donations pledged.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Gardner, of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said the police had been working hard to gather as much evidence as possible. He stated, “Although it has taken some time to reach this stage, we can now move forward with the judicial process and seek justice for their family.” Mr Clifford, who was also charged with false imprisonment and two counts of possession of offensive weapons, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court later this year.

The crime against the Hunt family has sent shockwaves throughout the community and beyond. The criminal investigation of the case by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit was a protracted and thorough process that eventually led to the arrest and charging of the culprit. The case will continue to develop with a view to providing justice to the surviving members of the family
