Inquiry reveals new details of serial killer Peter Tobin's death


Peter Tobin, the convicted serial killer, died in 2022 due to several health issues, including dementia, vascular disease, and prostate cancer. Tobin sustained a broken leg when he fell in his cell at HMP Edinburgh, where he was serving three life sentences for the murders of Vicky Hamilton, Dinah McNicol, and Angelika Kluk. Tobin died on October 8 at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary at the age of 76.

Before his death, Tobin had been receiving palliative care due to his declining health, which included previously undisclosed vascular dementia. In 2016, he was diagnosed with suspected prostate cancer but was unwilling to undergo further testing. In December 2020, he was found to have vascular dementia, and in the months leading up to his death, he suffered from several medical conditions, including strokes, mini-strokes, chest pain, general confusion, and mobility issues.
