Girl died from sepsis after GP sent her home twice

The family of an eight-year-old girl is taking legal action over her death in 2022 after she was sent home from the GP twice in four hours with stomach problems. Mia Glynn, from Biddulph in Staffordshire, had been sick and had a sore throat and a headache for three days. Mia’s doctor gave her antibiotics and said the hospital was too busy to help, but her parents called 999 that night when Mia turned blue. She died in hospital from sepsis caused by a Strep A infection. The family is now seeking legal action over the tragedy.

Mrs. Glynn has expressed her condolences, saying “The pain that we feel is unexplainable and unimaginable.” She described her daughter as “the happiest, brightest, most loving, and caring girl who smiled, danced, brought joy, and love to everyone she met.”

From December 5th, Mia started complaining of a sore throat, and her parents took her to the doctor three days later when she had a temperature and a severe headache. Later that day, Mrs. Glynn took her daughter back to the surgery because of her condition, and the doctor called the hospital for a second opinion. The 37-year-old was advised to take Mia home as the hospital was full. She was sent home with antibiotics and was advised to give Mia fluids and ibuprofen.

In the early morning of December 9th, the Glynns called for an ambulance after Mia woke up with rashes on her arms and legs. Shortly afterwards, Mia’s lips turned blue, and they called the emergency medical team. The paramedics tried hard to revive the girl, but unfortunately, she could not make it and died later that day
