An 18-year-old man named Nicholas Prosper has been charged with murder following the discovery of three bodies in a tower block in Luton. While formal identification of the victims has not yet taken place, Bedfordshire Police have said that they believe the three to be Nicholas’ mother Juliana Prosper (aged 48) and his siblings Kyle Prosper (aged 16) and Giselle Prosper (aged 13). Nicholas has also been charged with several firearm offences.
The news has shocked the local community, with flowers and cards being left outside the block of flats where the family lived. Schools in the area have paid tribute to Kyle and Giselle Prosper. A statement from Kyle’s school, Cardinal Newman Catholic School, said that staff and students were “deeply saddened” and that it would be “a difficult time for students and staff”. Lea Manor High School, where Giselle was a pupil, offered bereavement counsellors and remembered her as a “model pupil” and “a beautiful soul”.
Police officers were called to the tower block early on Friday morning and found three people with fatal injuries. Nicholas Prosper was arrested shortly afterwards and charged the following day. A firearm was also discovered during a search of the surrounding area. Officers have said that they will remain at the block as the investigation continues.
Online tributes have flowed in, with one mother writing that her son was a close friend of Kyle. She described him as a “lovely, smiley, quiet boy” whose death was heartbreaking. Another person wrote that it was “so hard to believe” that the family had been killed. Nicholas Prosper is due to appear at Luton Magistrates’ Court on Monday
