Sam Tompkins, a Brighton-based singer, has pleaded for the return of his father’s cross necklace after burglars took it in a raid on his house. The musician’s father, John Tompkins, passed away last year, and the necklace, which he wore for over a decade, was of “sentimental value”. Tompkins revealed the items had been lost when he returned home to his Brighton home on September 12. The burglars took his laptop, Gibson acoustic guitar, jewellery and his father’s cross necklace, which Tompkins explained was a “small necklace, which won’t be easy to find”.
“I don’t want to live in fear, I have to carry on. My dad wouldn’t want me worried this much about the pendant,” the singer said. The burglary does not affect his world tour, he said, with Tompkins continuing to perform despite the loss. The necklace, which is of little material value to anyone else, would be difficult for the thieves to sell, Tompkins noted.
Sussex Police is currently investigating the burglary, which occurred between September 10 and 12, and made an appeal to anyone with information
