A 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was found guilty of causing the death of Patrick Colquhoun, 70, in Glasgow just 30 minutes after he was released by the police, where he had been detained after attacking a shopkeeper. The incident took place in Govanhill in April. The boy had assaulted Nadeen Mohammed with a blade following an argument at the shopkeeper’s outlet. The teenager pleaded guilty to culpable homicide of Mr Colquhoun and admitted to assaulting Mr Mohammed to his injury. He will be sentenced next month and is being held at a secure unit.
Prosecutor Angela Gray KC said that there had been “concerns” raised about the boy’s behaviour in 2023. The accused had gone to the off-license store in Govanhill at around 4:00 PM on 12 April with a friend, demanded the shopkeeper and his son to come outside, but the men asked them to leave.
