The Braemar Gathering Highland Games in Aberdeenshire was graced by the King and Queen, who seemed to be in good spirits as they participated in the annual event. This traditional event has been held since 1832 and is usually graced by the reigning monarch. Participants in this year’s competition enjoyed traditional games such as the caber toss and tug-of-war as well as performances by drummers, dancers, and bagpipers.
King Charles, who was a regular spectator of the games when he was the Duke of Rothesay, will observe the second anniversary of his ascendancy to the throne on Sunday. Together with his wife Camilla, King Charles arrived at the event decked out in a tweed jacket and a navy, red and green kilt. The couple interacted jovially with the other guests and were seen smiling and chatting.
