£22.99Sir Martin Moore-Bick, the Chair of the Grenfell inquiry, has bereaved the names of all the 72 victims of the fire disaster in 2017. In his report, Sir Martin has claimed that the people who were responsible for ensuring the safety of the residents have failed to do their job and as a result, the deaths of all the victims could have been avoided.
The report has been one of the most anticipated investigations in recent history and concludes that the disaster was caused by a “lack of effective fire safety measures” in the tower block. The inquiry heard that the cladding used on the building failed safety tests and had been installed in a way that didn’t comply with building regulations.
In the report, it also states that the London Fire Brigade’s advice to “stay put” was not withdrawn quickly enough, resulting in the loss of lives. Furthermore, the inquiry observed that the emergency response teams made “serious shortcomings” in their handling of the crisis.
The Grenfell Tower Disaster was one of the deadliest fires in London’s history. The tragedy shook the nation and raised questions about building safety regulations and how the government should respond to the crisis.
