A wedding set to occur in Poland in just two weeks’ time is now under threat for London couple Lukasz and Agnieszka. This comes after the couple lost their home and all possessions due to the Dagenham block fire. Among the items lost was the bride’s wedding dress, purchased just two days prior to the fire. The couple are understandably devastated, with Lukasz stating how their impending nuptials were set to be the “best day of our lives”.
As well as losing their home and possessions, Agnieszka is also concerned for her trip to Poland for the wedding. She fears that her personal documents were also lost in the fire. The couple are searching for temporary accommodation whilst they look to rebuild and recover from the disaster.
The Dagenham block fire broke out on the evening of Sunday 2nd May 2021. Firefighters were able to evacuate the building, and there were no reported fatalities or serious injuries. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
Whilst the loss of possessions is significant, it is the impact that this fire has had on individuals’ lives that is most devastating. Lukasz and Agnieszka are just two of the residents affected, and their story is a reminder of the need for support and compassion when disaster strikes
