Swansea: Woman charged with murder of six-year-old boy


On Thursday, a woman named Karolina Zurawska, 41, was arrested in connection with the murder of a six-year-old boy named Alexander Zurawski. She was charged with Alexander’s murder, as well as attempted murder involving a 67-year-old man earlier on the same day. On Monday, she will appear at Swansea Magistrates’ Court. South Wales Police have confirmed that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident as of now.

The incident took place in the Gendros area of Swansea at around 8:30 pm BST. The police have described it as a distressing incident that has been a tremendous shock to the local community. Ch Supt Chris Truscott, divisional commander for Swansea and Neath Port Talbot, has stated that the police will maintain a presence in the area over the coming days to provide advice and reassurance.

Alexander’s family has described him as an amazing child who was always kind and well-behaved. They further added that he loved playing with his little sister and dog named Daisy. Alexander was a clever and mature child for his age and spoke both English and Polish. He attended Whitestone Primary School in West Cross, Swansea, where he was popular among his peers.

Headteacher Bethan Peterson has paid tribute to Alexander, describing him as a delightful and determined little boy whose tenacity and positive demeanour ensured his success in all he undertook. “He was an extremely loved and popular boy… with all who knew him,” she added. The school community is devastated by the news of his death, and support will be available to the children and staff. Alexander will be sadly missed by all who knew him
