Abdullah was one of several people who held down the attacker for around four to five minutes. He made the decision to act as there was no time to think. Abdullah expressed his horror at the sight of a child being attacked.
The scene remains cordoned off by crime scene tape as the police carry out their investigations in one of the busiest tourist districts of London. Objects including a green lighter, black cap, and bloodied napkins can be seen on the ground within the taped-off area. A crowd of onlookers has gathered in the distance. A London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirms that they received an emergency call to the incident at 11:36 BST and dispatched a range of medical resources, including ambulance crew and tactical response units.
