After announcing Toy Story 5 last month, Pixar have now confirmed that the film is set to receive a 2026 release. The animation studio shared this news, among others, during Disney’s Entertainment Showcase Panel on Friday. Additionally, Pixar revealed that Incredibles 3 is now in production and director Brad Bird will be returning for this instalment. The release date for Incredibles 3 has not been confirmed yet, though it is sure to excite fans of the superhero franchise.

This showcase also saw Pixar reveal their first original series Dream Productions, which will be an Inside Out spin-off set for release on Disney+ in 2025. The series will be exploring the studio inside the mind of Riley, the film’s protagonist, where dreams are created. This news comes after the recent release of Inside Out 2, which has already broken box office records and smashed all of Pixar’s previous records.

“This is our first original series, and we wanted to do something unique and bold, unlike anything we’ve done before,” said Pixar veteran Pete Docter at the presentation. The voice stars for the series have not been announced yet, but fans of the original movie will be sure to tune in when it drops.

Incredibles 2 was released in 2018 and is Pixar’s second most profitable film of all time. The sequel follows the team as they attempt to restore public faith in superheroes while also balancing family life. NME gave the movie a four-star rating, stating that it was “hyper-stylish, hyper-nostalgic, family-friendly caper” and a “goddamn fun two hours”.

Pixar enthusiasts are in for a treat with all of this news, which includes the announcement of a brand-new original series and the long-awaited return of a beloved superhero family. Additionally, fans can look forward to Toy Story 5, set to release in 2026
