Hackney: Man charged after quadruple shooting

On May 29th, there was a quadruple shooting in Hackney, which left a nine-year-old girl severely injured. Javon Reily, 32, of Farnborough Road, Farnborough, has been charged with four counts of attempted murder due to the East London shooting near Kingsland High Street. The police have confirmed that Reily has been remanded in custody.

While the girl remains in stable condition at the hospital, it’s been confirmed that three adults were also injured during the shooting. At the time of the incident, the girl was dining with her family at a restaurant when the shooting occurred from outside. Three men aged between 26 to 42 years who were sitting outside the restaurant at Kingsland High Street were also shot, believed to have come from a lone motorcyclist. They have since been released from the hospital.

Det Ch Insp Joanna Yorke is currently leading the investigation on the case and has asked for any witness reports. She also appealed to anyone who could identify an individual seen on a motorcycle around the Kingsland High Street during the incident.

While the police are awaiting further reports on the matter, a 35-year-old lady was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to assist an offender and murder but has been released on bail. Mr Reily himself was arrested on Friday after a vehicle stop on Chelsea Embankment. He is due to reappear in the court on 6 September. Det Ch Supt James Conway, responsible for policing in Hackney and Tower Hamlets, acknowledged the terrifying effects of guns and offered sympathies to the victims’ families at this time.
