Banksy has unveiled a new piece of art in Walthamstow, north-east London above a fish and chip shop. The artwork features two pelicans eating fish, and was confirmed to be by the British artist on his Instagram. Before the artist confirmed the piece was his, Walthamstow’s MP Stella Creasy took to Facebook to express her admiration for the artwork, calling it “brill” and adding that “the chips there are magic”. This is the fifth work that Banksy has claimed credit for this week alone.

The art, depicting a wolf howling at the moon, was the fourth work by Banksy to be released this week, following pieces in Richmond, Chelsea, and a bridge in East London.
Banksy’s new artwork was showcased as part of what has been a strong artistic week for the artist, who also unveiled an immigrant boat, reminiscent of the migrant crisis, during a performance by IDLES at Glastonbury 2024. The boat was called “vile” by former Home Secretary James Cleverly, however, Banksy hit back by pointing out the number of lives that are lost to the crisis on a daily basis.
