Clean Bandit, a UK-based trio, were robbed of around €40,000 in cash and equipment during their trip to Ibiza last weekend. While in Ibiza, the group was shooting a music video for their latest joint single ‘Cry Baby’ alongside David Guetta and Anne-Marie. The group was staying at a friend’s house and had stepped out for dinner when the robbery occurred. The Olive Press reported that the robbers crowbarred the window and stole lenses, laptops, and cash.
Clean Bandit vocalist Grace Chatto stated that the other members of the group had to return to London as they had to edit the video. Fortunately, the footage was safe, but Grace was supposed to bring back the lenses. The robbery occurred while they were out to dinner, and when they returned, the equipment was stolen. She also mentioned that they were scared to stay there that night, but was happy that they didn’t lose the footage.
The entire music video, which features David Guetta and Anne-Marie, was entirely shot, produced, directed, and edited by the trio. They stated that they hope to claim back the lost 40,000 Euros through their insurance. It’s not the first-time musicians have been robbed in Ibiza as earlier this year, Yorkshire DJ Franky Wah reported the theft of his entire music collection from a restaurant.
Franky Wah’s laptop and unfinished tracks, along with other irreplaceable items, were stolen from his car when he was eating at a restaurant in Jesús, northern Ibiza. He urged anyone with information on the location of his belongings to come forward and offered a reward for their return.
Ibiza is a popular destination for its nightlife, and this kind of robbery is not uncommon, particularly for tourists. Despite the setback, Clean Bandit continues to work on their music and expects to bring new music for their fans soon.
