Blink-182 cancel two shows due to illness

Due to illness, Blink-182 has been forced to cancel two forthcoming shows on their current US tour. The group took to social media to inform their fans yesterday (August 8) that they would not be making their two upcoming gigs in Kansas City and St Louis. Blink-182 wrote: “Unfortunately, due to illness we are unable to make it to Kansas City and St. Louis”, adding that they were “so sorry and hope to see you all next time.” Blink-182 has not shared any more details on the illness or who has been affected.

Fans who have purchased tickets through Ticketmaster will receive an automatic refund. Those who have bought tickets through a third-party reseller are advised to “reach out to your point of purchase” for information on how to obtain a refund. The band is currently in the midst of their US tour. Blink-182 will headline Reading & Leeds festival later this month, along with Liam Gallagher, Lana Del Rey, Fred Again.., Gerry Cinnamon and Catfish & The Bottlemen. Remaining tickets are available online via Ticketmaster.

Earlier this week, Blink-182’s frontman and guitarist Tom DeLonge appeared to take a harsh review of their recent show at Lollapalooza’s in his stride. The negative set review by The Daily Illini described the performance as “cringe-worthy” and “repulsive” with the band’s crude sense of humour as one point of criticism. However, DeLonge appeared to be amused by the harsh words; he posted a screenshot of the review on social media and made fun of the critical review in his caption. Fans defended the band against the criticism and cited the journalist’s lack of humor towards the band’s humor as a point of criticism.

The illness has also caused the band to cancel any upcoming performances. Attendees of their concert in Milwaukee were alerted last Thursday that their performance scheduled for the following day had been postponed until September 15th–again citing an illness affecting one of the band members. The musical group was slated to perform with The Bronx and Taking Back Sunday. The tour is in promotion of the band’s latest album, Nine, which was released in 2019. Blink-182 continues to monitor their member’s health and safety to ensure no further cancellations will occur during their tour
