Stranger Than;, an event series based in Los Angeles, has announced a new run of events at the pop-up venue THE SUPER-MRKT;. The series will host a four-month-long season of shows curated by Stranger Than;, featuring artists such as Moodymann, Carl Craig, Orbital, and Luciano. However, only Nico Moreno’s show in November has been revealed so far, with tickets selling out in minutes. The space has a capacity between 1,2000 and 3,000 and has already hosted a 14-hour set by GORDO in May.
THE SUPER-MRKT; is located inside a former supermarket and will introduce a new element to L.A.’s party scene. Founder of Stranger Than;, Tal Ohana, notes that while they can still have eight-plus-hour daytime parties in open-air parks and outdoor spaces, neighbourhood compliance and permits make it difficult to tap into the early morning parties found in other electronic music hotspots worldwide. With the new space, they aim to introduce this element into L.A.’s party scene.
Ohana explains that L.A. has become the city of daytime parties due to the restrictions on nighttime events. As a result, it has become a challenge for DJs, attendees, and organizers to keep up with the electronic music scenes of other parts of the world, where clubs stay open until the morning hours. Stranger Than; plans to announce more dates and artists soon. Check out pictures of THE SUPER-MRKT; below.
