According to recent reports, actor Danny DeVito will be returning to “The Simpsons” to reprise his role as Homer Simpson’s half-brother. The show’s upcoming premiere, “Bart’s Birthday,” promises to change Springfield forever as Bart celebrates the most shocking birthday party of his life with guest appearances from celebrities such as John Cena, Tom Hanks, Joel McHale, Conan O’Brien, and DeVito. While the roles of the celebrities have not been confirmed, Simpsons writer and producer Michael Price affirmed that DeVito would return to play a character he previously portrayed on the show.

DeVito voiced Herb Powell, Homer Simpson’s long-lost, older half-brother, in the episode “O Brother Where Art Thou.” He also appeared in “Brother, Can You Spare Two Dimes” and “Changing Of The Guardian.” You can hear Price talking about DeVito’s return in detail by visiting the Four Finger Discount podcast.

The Simpsons writer and showrunner Al Jean posted a picture of Harris in an outfit similar to one worn by Lisa Simpson, who becomes President of the US in a future episode of “Bart To The Future.”

Jean has spoken about the show’s uncanny ability to predict events, saying, “One of our writers, the guy whose episode predicted Donald Trump as the president, said it best: ‘If you write 700 episodes, and you don’t predict anything, then you’re pretty bad. If you throw enough darts, you’re going to get some bullseyes.'” While much of the show’s predictions may be mere coincidences, there are plenty of cases where life imitates art
