Paloma Faith hits out at “right-wing idiots” amid UK riots: “I am proud of a Britain which is diverse”

Amidst the riots that have been occurring in the UK, Paloma Faith has taken aim at “right-wing idiots”. The singer, who is a proud member of the Hackney community, posted a heartfelt message on social media mentioning her children who are of North African heritage. According to Faith, all they have done is contribute to the diverse culture she grew up in. She wrote: “As the mother of two half Muslim North African children and as a born and raised resident and proud member of the Hackney community, I stand vehemently against racism of any kind.”

Faith went on to say that she is proud of the UK, which she describes as “diverse, integrated and accepting of all cultures”. In the caption of her post, she criticized right-wing fascists for scapegoating minorities for the problems that plague the country. In her recent album ‘The Glorification of Sadness’ released on February 16, Faith sang about her past struggles with the feminist movement, among other things.

Massive Attack, Nova Twins, Yard Act, KNEECAP, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, Nadine Shah, and Taylor Swift stood in solidarity with communities of colour, especially Muslim communities, amidst the ongoing riots in the UK. They all condemned violent racism and Islamophobia, which they believe have been normalized over the years through the actions of political leaders and the British media.

As a born and raised resident of Hackney, a culturally diverse borough in London, Faith is one of many artists who have spoken out against racist violence in the UK. In her social media post, Faith urged the right-wing idiots spreading racism to leave the country. She said: “We cannot scapegoat minorities for this country’s problems when in my experience, all they have done is contribute to the rich diverse culture that has shaped the best parts of me and the people I love and adore.”
