Halsey explained that they were already miscarrying before the concert began, but felt compelled to go on as there were corporate partners, media entities, and fans who had been waiting all day for the performance. They also revealed that they put on an adult diaper and performed while in pain.
Following the show, Halsey vomited in a parking lot and spent the night unwell in their hotel room. They went on to describe the emotional turmoil they felt in the aftermath of the miscarriage, which included a range of feelings such as relief, confusion, guilt, and grief.
Halsey has been open about their struggles with chronic illness, having publicly discussed being diagnosed with endometriosis and undergoing surgery for the condition. They later froze their eggs as part of their family planning. In 2021, Halsey welcomed their son Ender with ex-partner Alev Aydin.
More recently, Halsey shared that they were diagnosed with Lupus SLE and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder in 2022, which are being managed and kept in remission. Halsey expressed gratitude for music and their ability to get back to singing and performing after two years of managing their illness.
