fabric is upgrading its legendary Room 1 soundsystem for the first time

For the first time in its 25-year history, fabric nightclub has upgraded its legendary Room 1 soundsystem. The state-of-the-art Martin Audio system, which has been listed as one of the top 10 soundsystems to visit, has heard some of the best DJs in the world over the course of its history. Rather than replacing the system, fabric made the decision to renovate it due to its history and “distinctive” sound.

The club’s tech manager Matt Smith oversaw the refresh and consulted with the club’s community of DJs, promoters, and sound engineers to determine the best approach. They agreed that the upgraded system should retain the signature Martin Audio sound and preserve a part of the club’s history. Martin Audio overhauled the existing system and added new subwoofers, which delivers more power and improved sound quality while keeping the distinct sound.

To make way for the latest speaker range by Martin Audio, fabric found a new home for the previous custom F12 (DJ monitors), which are imbued with sentimental and emotional value. The soundsystem upgrade comes just in time for the club’s 25th birthday, celebrated by a massive 30-hour party taking place from October 12 to October 14. The event features a line-up of renowned DJs, including Ben UFO, Ricardo Villalobos, FJAAK, Peach, and Marcel Dettmann, among others.

With more names yet to be announced, the celebration promises plenty of surprises taking place across the weekend, some of which are being kept secret until the event. Fabric’s 25th birthday event is expected to be one of its biggest parties yet, and the upgraded sound system will play a crucial role in the experience.
