Mr HotSpot, the creator of the sample that features on Lil Yachty and Drake’s unreleased song, has agreed to clear the sample if the duo make the song more child-friendly. The decision followed his initial refusal to give permission to use the trap-inspired record that samples his song “Goodness Gracious”, citing his recent conversion to religion as the reason. The duo’s refusal to comply with his earlier request resulted in online backlash.

During a TikTok Live broadcast, Mr HotSpot revealed that he would approve the clean sample if both artists made a clean version of the song and changed some lyrics to make it more suitable for children. “It’ll be good for both of their brands like that and I’m blessed to work with children so we just gotta make it clean for them,” he said. Mr HotSpot added that he and Drake had already recorded a clean reference, stating, “everybody gonna benefit for sure.”

Lil Yachty had earlier expressed disappointment in Mr HotSpot’s rejection of his and Drake’s request. Speaking on comedian Andrew Schultz’s Flagrant podcast, he explained that the artist had turned down their request without any financial consideration. He suggested that they could still perform the song and generate revenue via live performance.

The leak of Drake and Lil Yachty’s song, “Super Soaker,” had stirred up controversy on social media and prompted Lil Yachty to take a break from social media for a while. In addition, Soulja Boy had thought that Drake was making a veiled reference to his record label and 2007 hit, “Super Soak”, in his unreleased song and had taken to social media to vent his frustration. However, the “Kiss Me Thru The Phone” star later clarified that he and Drake had resolved the misunderstanding.

In other news, Yachty appeared on the soundtrack for the recently released movie, Despicable Me 4, whereas Drake recently shared 100GB worth of data on a new website, including three previously unheard tracks. He also announced that he and PartyNextDoor would be releasing a joint album this autumn
