While Canal is not dating Cruise, she remains friends with him and refers to him as a “respectful and encouraging person and mentor.” She also praised Chris Martin, Coldplay’s frontman, as another person who has offered her support. Martin brought Canal on stage during the band’s record-breaking fifth headlining performance at Glastonbury and has been instrumental in Canal’s success.
Canal first caught Martin’s attention after she created an April Fool’s Day Rolling Stone magazine cover in college that displayed the text “Victoria Canal wows Chris Martin.” A mutual connection passed the photo on to Martin, and he was impressed with Canal’s music. He eventually helped her get signed to Parlophone.
