David Gilmour, former member of iconic rock band Pink Floyd, is set to release his new solo album, ‘Luck And Strange’, which Gilmour himself has compared to the band’s landmark album ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’. In an interview with Prog Magazine, Gilmour stated that the upcoming album is the “best album” he has made since the release of ‘Dark Side’ back in 1973. The album consists of eight brand new tracks and a reworking of the Montgolfier Brothers’ 1999 track ‘Between Two Points’, which has already been previewed with two singles – ‘The Piper’s Call’ and the reworked ‘Between Two Points’ featuring Gilmour’s daughter Romany Gilmour.
‘Luck And Strange’, which was recorded over five months in Brighton and London, is set for release on September 6th and is available to pre-order/pre-save now. Gilmour also revealed in the interview that he plans to start work on a follow-up album after its release, stating that he will continue to work with the same collaborators.
Despite the high praise Gilmour has given to his new album, he has not forgotten about the incredible career he had alongside Pink Floyd, with classics like ‘Animals’ and ‘The Wall’ following their release of ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’. To promote his upcoming solo album, Gilmour has announced a series of tour dates. He will perform at the Circo Massimo in Rome, Italy from 27-29th September before making his way to London’s Royal Albert Hall for six dates between 9th-15th October. He will then travel to Los Angeles, performing three dates at the Hollywood Bowl from 29th-31st October before concluding his tour at Madison Square Garden in New York on 4th-9th November.
