The end is nigh for House Of The Dragon. Showrunner Ryan Condal has confirmed today that the Game Of Thrones prequel will come to a close after season four. There will be two more seasons to come before the curtain falls on the Targaryen story.
House Of The Dragon co-creator George R.R. Martin previously stated that the show would comprise four seasons. Condal’s announcement finally confirms that plan. It has not been discussed how long the new season will be.
During the press conference, Condal addressed issues related to season two, including the lack of the ‘Battle of the Gullet,’ a highly anticipated event from the book, Fire & Blood. Responding to fans who expressed disappointment over the lack of narrative progress in the finale, Condal assured them that the climax would “happen very shortly” in the storytelling of House Of The Dragon.
Before season three arrives, another Game Of Thrones spin-off, Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, is expected to premiere in “early 2025”, with production rumoured to have already commenced. Additionally, prequel 10,000 Ships, set a thousand years before the events of Game Of Thrones, is also in development.
