Larian Studios, the developers behind Baldur’s Gate 3, has claimed they are struggling to come up with fresh ideas for their games due to the vastness of their third entry in the Baldur’s Gate series. Despite refusing to create any more expansions or a direct sequel to the title, Larian Studios has two new original IP-based games in the works that they insist will be better than anything they’ve produced before.
The writing director, Adam Smith, admits that they continually keep running into the issue of repeating content from their previous title, Baldur’s Gate 3. “Whenever we’re talking about things, we say we did that in BG3. As a result, the company feels as if they are stuck in a “Simpson’s did it” scenario that is preventing them from working on new ventures.
Wizards of the Coast has assured the fans that they will continue to work on the franchise, neither confirming nor denying whether or not Larian Studios would be involved in the Baldur’s Gate 4 project. The fourth entry in the popular game series has been in high demand amongst fans, but Larian has refused to create a sequel or expansion to the series, instead preferring to move on to fresh projects.
However, despite their new creative hurdles, Larian Studios hasn’t stopped working on Baldur’s Gate 3 entirely, as they have a new patch coming out the following month. No new information has been released about the patch, but fans are highly anticipating it.
