Musician BABii has recently announced her third studio album, DareDeviil2000, which is set to be released on October 11th via Boxset Recordings. The Margate-based artist has already unveiled the album’s first single, “J0YR1D3”, and has now released a new single, “Scarface”, produced in collaboration with Pholo, Warpstr, and Iglooghost.
The new single is musically and narratively unique, with BABii drawing from her personal experience to tell the story of her late father’s betrayal of his own father. The album follows a fictional world named Nevaworld, which resembles Dante’s Inferno and is filled with monsters, goblins, crooks, and hooligans, each attached to a song along with a corresponding sin.
BABii has become increasingly daring over time, pushing her concepts further into the abstract and delving deeper into her own vulnerabilities. DareDeviil2000 is a project that places itself at the intersection of fantasy and reality, evoking a world that doesn’t exist to reflect on the one that does.
The album features 12 tracks, including “Scarface”, and promises to be another exciting project from BABii. Her previous album, MiiRROR, was accompanied by a book, an ARG, and a live A/V show, while her debut album, HiiDE, established her characteristic juxtaposition of sweet-sounding, melodic vocals with dark and emotive lyrics.
