Anti-immigrant sentiment has been on the rise in response to the tragedy, with many individuals expressing the belief that immigrants are responsible for an increase in crime within the country.

Despite vocal pushback from those who feel that immigrants are being unfairly targeted and scapegoated for wider societal issues, there remains substantial support for anti-immigration rhetoric in many sectors of society.
