Netflix has officially announced the premiere date for season two of their hit K-drama, Squid Game, revealing in a trailer that the show will debut on December 26. Additionally, the streaming giant announced that the show has been renewed for a third and final season, to be released in the near future.

The new chapter of Squid Game finds season one’s winner Gi-hun, also known as Player 456, determined to expose the organisers behind the brutal and violent game, using his winnings to begin his search. However, Gi-hun quickly discovers that stopping the game from the outside is more challenging than he anticipated, and he must step back into the game to end it once and for all.

A letter from Hwang Dong-hyuk, who directed and wrote Squid Game, was also released by Netflix, expressing his excitement regarding the final two seasons of the series. The writer said, “I am thrilled to see the seed that was planted in Squid Game grow and bear fruit through the end of this story.”
