Singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes has unveiled his new album ‘Shawn,’ marking his first release in four years. The album, which has been written over a two-year period and recorded in several locations including Costa Rica, Nashville, and New York City, features a range of guest producers and songwriters, including Nate Mercereau, Scott Harris, Amy Allen, Mike Sabath, and Ethan Gruska. ‘Shawn’ is set to be released on Isle Records on October 18th, and pre-orders are currently available.
Mendes has also released the first single ‘Isn’t That Enough’ from the album. You can watch the video for the folk-and-country-inspired song below. Another song, ‘Why Why Why,’ is due to be released on August 9th.
Discussing the making of the album, Mendes explained that “Music really can be medicine. 2 years ago I felt like I had absolutely no idea who I was. A year ago I couldn’t step into a studio without falling into complete panic. So to be here right now with 12 beautiful finished songs feels like such a gift.”
Mendes canceled the rest of his ‘Wonder: The World Tour’ in July due to mental health struggles. In a statement, he said that the toll of the road and pressure had caught up with him, and he needed time to heal and take care of himself and his mental health.
