London punk band High Vis has announced their new album Guided Tour and released the single Mind’s A Lie as a preview. The album will be released on October 18 via Dais Records and is available for pre-order. Mind’s A Lie is a dance-punk anthem synthesising inspirations from house, garage, and Pirate Radio, featuring a sample of South London singer and DJ Ell Murphy. The song’s visuals explore themes of class, isolation and loneliness. The album’s track list has also been revealed.
In an interview with NME last year, vocalist Graham Sayle discussed the process of writing the album. The band has been writing a lot, and Sayle has been consistently writing lyrics, he said. He added that in the last year, a lot has changed in his life which he has been writing about. There is a lot on the new songs about working out how to negotiate life without resorting to shitty escapist techniques and dealing with the pressure of it.
The Mind’s A Lie video, shared by Sayle, looks at how quickly negative habits can take control when you lack a positive or constructive outlet for your energy. The language of mental health provision has found fertile ground in the churn of social media, but access to essential services has been decimated by the indifference of successive Tory governments. It can lead to further division stoked through governmental rhetoric and media scapegoating. Without adequate support in times of crisis, life can quickly spiral into an angry and isolated existence and negative habits can take control.
High Vis will also embark on a UK tour in 2025. Tickets go on sale from August 2 and can be found here. The tour dates are as follows:
