Following the success of her memoir “The Woman in Me,” Britney Spears has announced that the book will be adapted into a movie. Universal Pictures acquired the rights less than a year after it was first released, with “Wicked” director Jon M. Chu and producer Marc Platt attached to the project, according to Variety. Notably, the audiobook version of “The Woman in Me” broke sales records for publisher Simon & Schuster. Spears shared her excitement about the upcoming film on social media, revealing that she has been working on a secret project with Platt.
The book contains several personal revelations, including Spears’ experience of a 13-year conservatorship. One of the most notable revelations in the memoir was that Spears had an abortion while dating Justin Timberlake between 1998 and 2002 because they were “way too young” to start a family. Spears also discussed how she struggled to recover from her break-up with Timberlake, admitting that she could “barely speak for months.”
Recently, Spears launched a collaboration with skateboard brand Welcome. Fans can purchase custom decks and merchandise featuring iconic images from her career, including the cover of her debut album ‘Baby One More Time’ and photos from her famed 2001 MTV VMAs performance. There are also items like hoodies, t-shirts, and hats that feature lyrics from her biggest hits.
