Post Malone thought Blake Shelton wrote ‘Austin’ about him as a child

According to Blake Shelton, Post Malone was convinced that his track ‘Austin’ was actually written about him. The two country artists recently collaborated on a single called ‘Pour Me A Drink’ which features on Post Malone’s upcoming country album, ‘F-1 Trillion’. The album is due to be released on August 16th.

During an interview with American Songwriter, Shelton explained that Post Malone’s real name is Austin. He claims that the younger artist’s mother told him that the song was about him when he was a child, and that he believed it. The younger Malone was raised on a mixed diet of country music from his mother as well as rock music from his father.

Shelton praised Post Malone as someone who is “just so excited about music”, but admitted that he had never asked him why he wanted to collaborate with him. However, he believes that Malone has been wanting to move into the country music genre for some time because of his upbringing in Texas. This has been reflected in Malone’s recent string of country singles and collaborations with other country artists.

‘F-1 Trillion’ is believed to be predominantly country in style but the tracklist has not been released yet. However, fans can pre-order or pre-save the album before its release. Post Malone is embarking on a North American tour in support of the album in September 2024
