Brighton-based band Porridge Radio recently announced their upcoming album, ‘Clouds In The Sky They Will Always Be There For Me,’ with the release of its lead single, ‘Sick Of The Blues.’ The album is set to drop on October 18th via Secretly Canadian, and according to band leader Dana Margolin, “is a coming-of-age moment inspired by burnout, the music industry, heartbreak, and her own increasing immersion in her craft as an artist.”
All of the songs on the album started out as poems, Margolin explains. “In a poem, though, you can’t hide. A lot of this album is about a more frenetic and desperate kind of love. It is about completely losing my sense of self in one relationship, and the deep residue of insecurity and pain that lingered and clouded a new relationship.”
To coincide with the announcement, the band has released a world tour schedule. They will be embarking on a UK and European tour throughout November and December 2024 before heading out on a US run in early 2025.
‘Sick Of The Blues,’ which is the album’s closing track, has been described as a hopeful yet melancholic single. It showcases Margolin’s ability to express emotions while maintaining a sense of empowerment. The track is about not being able to control another person’s love but being able to find joy in oneself despite being heartbroken.
The album tracklist includes ‘Anybody,’ ‘Hole In The Ground,’ ‘Lavender Raspberries,’ ‘Sleeptalker,’ ‘You Will Come Home,’ ‘Wednesday,’ ‘In A Dream,’ ‘I Get Lost,’ ‘Pieces Of Heaven,’ and features aforementioned lead single ‘Sick Of The Blues.’
