Dave Grohl joins Charli XCX’s viral ‘Apple’ dance trend

The ‘Apple’ dance trend has been taking social media by storm since TikToker Kelley Heyer created a dance for Charli XCX’s track in June. A host of celebrities including Joe Jonas, Stephen Colbert, Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and even Charli XCX herself have all joined in on the viral craze. Now, Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl has joined in on the fun, dancing along to the trend with his daughter Harper.

In the video shared on Harper’s TikTok channel, Grohl is seen sitting while his daughter stands. They both dance to the ‘Apple’ track with Grohl trying to keep up with a smile on his face. The song has become one of the album’s more popular streaming hits, with Charli XCX’s highly-anticipated sixth studio album ‘Brat’ releasing last month.

NME stated that the album was where the polymath “fully commits to the dancefloor” and proves “that going her own way will always sound pretty good.” The album’s lime green artwork became a meme and the term “Brat Summer” soon went viral. In response to news outlets such as Pitchfork and Dazed saying “Brat summer” is over, XCX alluded to dropping new music on her social media channels.

To further solidify the album’s popularity, ‘Brat’ has made the shortlist of the 2024 Mercury Prize.
