Polyvinyl will release two special editions of American Football’s self-titled debut album in celebration of its 25th anniversary. The first is a completely remastered version of the album that will be called American Football (25th Anniversary Edition), which will be available on October 18. The second is American Football (Covers), featuring nine different artists covering each of the album’s tracks.

The covers album will feature different artists taking on the album tracks, with Ethel Cain recording a cover of ‘For Sure,’ while Blondshell covered ‘The Summer Ends.’ Meanwhile, Manchester Orchestra will cover ‘Stay Home,’ with Iron & Wine doing a rendition of ‘Never Meant.’

American Football have shared the newly remastered ‘Never Meant,’ along with Iron & Wine’s interpretation of the song, to preview the upcoming anniversary editions. The cover artwork for the upcoming American Football (Covers) shows the house at various stages of the night through nine different photographs.

American Football teased the project last week on social media, leading fans to believe that new music was imminent. The group will embark on a tour in the UK and US this autumn to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their self-titled debut album, taking in several dates at venues around the world.
