Police launch urgent search for missing six-year-old girl in London

The six-year-old girl who went missing on Monday in south-east London’s Greenwich has prompted the Metropolitan Police to issue an urgent appeal. Named Eudine, she was reported missing from the Thamesmead Estate on 10 May at 22:40 BST. The police informed that she was seen alone on CCTV at midday, and they have requested people in the Thamesmead area to inspect gardens, sheds, and CCTV and doorbell footage. The suspect is believed to be wearing light pink pyjamas and carrying a white shoulder bag with a daisy design.

The Met said in a statement, “We are extremely concerned for her welfare and officers are carrying out urgent enquiries to find her.” It is unclear whether Eudine disappeared of her volition or there was an influential third-party involved. The local police department and family members are pleading through social media, and encouraging the public to come forward with any information that could aid in finding the missing child. Anyone with any information is asked to contact 999 immediately.

This is not the first time in recent months that a missing child has been reported in London. As of April 2021, the met police force had already dealt with over 13,000 reports of missing persons in 2021. According to the UK Missing Persons Bureau, a child is reported missing every three minutes in the United Kingdom. The child’s safety is paramount and must be located and returned to her family as soon as possible. The public has been asked to remain vigilant if they notice anything suspicious in the area
