Jeon Somi, a Korean-Canadian singer, is set to release a new song and music video later this week, according to a statement by her K-pop agency, The Black Label. It confirmed that the music would drop on August 2 at 1pm KST, however, didn’t reveal much else about it, such as the title, or whether there would be more music released in the future. The new single will be the first from Somi in a year since her last mini-album, ‘Game Plan’, was released, featuring the title track “Fast Forward”. Before that, she released her debut studio album, ‘XOXO’, in October 2021.
Somi first rose to fame when she appeared on reality TV series, ‘Sixteen’, in 2015, where she competed with 15 other JYP Entertainment trainees for a spot in a girl group that later became TWICE. While she didn’t make the final cut, she later joined the first season of Produce 101 in 2016. There, she secured first place and got into the project girl group I.O.I.
In other music news, GOT7 member Yugyeom has announced his 2024 ‘Trusty’ tour across Asia and Australia beginning in October this year, with shows in Singapore, Bangkok, Taipei, Sydney, and more. Meanwhile, Netflix unveiled its new teaser for the upcoming K-drama, ‘The Frog’, which stars Yoon Kye-sang, Kim Yun-seok, and more. The show will exclusively premiere on Netflix on August 23
