Doctor Who announces a new companion
It wasn’t just American TV shows making waves at SDCC. Over in London, Doctor Who fans got a first look at the show’s new companion, played by Jenna Coleman. Coleman is returning to the show to play a descendant of Clara Oswald, with fans speculating that her character will have a major role in the show’s upcoming 60th anniversary special in 2023. “We’re thrilled to be working with Jenna again and can’t wait for fans to see what we have in store for her character,” the show’s executive producer Chris Chibnall said in a statement.
The Walking Dead reveals season 14 details
The Walking Dead may be heading into its final season but there’s still plenty of undead action still to come. At SDCC, showrunner Angela Kang teased what’s in store for season 14, including the introduction of a new villainous group known as The Rattlers. “We’ve seen a lot of the undead on the show, but we’ve never dealt with a group like this before. They’re organised, they’re smart and they’re dangerous,” Kang said during a panel discussion. “They’re going to pose a real challenge for our characters.” The show also announced it will be getting a spin-off focusing on Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character Negan, which is set to premiere in 2026.
