Glasgow-based Irish producer, DJ and promoter Saol Nua has released a remixed version of his June EP ‘The Dial’. The EP has been released through the ‘Brand New Records’. Nua invited Joshua James, Dalila, Ruby May Moon, Coco Cole and Jacko & Batch for the remixing of the original five tracks. Techno slammers and jazz house affairs are the genres the tracks are leaning towards, but the remixers have added their own signature styles to the tracks they worked on.
Joshua James remixed the original track called ‘Saintly Tendencies’ by adding more of a rolling, sexy groove to it. While Dalila has chosen to add vocals, a deep bass, and a broken beat to ‘Body Could Dance’, which was originally a Jazz House song. Ruby May Moon has provided a breakbeat-meets-house take on ‘Nightmare on Mare St’. Coco Cole has given ‘The Toucan’ a warm twist inspired by her south-English coastal location, while Jacko & Batch convert ‘Cold Wings’ into a ferocious slice of techno.
Saol Nua told Mixmag that it was a great pleasure to work with these five amazing remixers on the release. He also hinted that he has plans to work more closely with some of them in the future. Meanwhile, La La, who founded Brand New Records in 2020, expressed his excitement to Mixmag as he welcomed these amazing artists for their projects. He called it a “pinch me moment” and urged people to check out the new EP.
The Dial (The Remixes) is available now and can be accessed through the Brand New Records on ‘Bandcamp’. Mixmag’s Weekend Editor Niamh Ingram has reported that Saol Nua shared his latest remixes through the label, and soon many music lovers can expect to see more collaborations by the artists on this project
