Liverpool City Council has announced the launch of the Workforce Academy, a training centre designed to bolster service delivery by equipping staff within the Children’s and Young People’s Service with the tools, knowledge and support needed to make a real difference in the lives of their clients. The Academy, nicknamed ‘Care, Inspire, and Thrive’, is part of the Council’s transformation journey, which prioritises children’s welfare and support for families. Leading the workshop effort, the Workforce Academy will provide bespoke assistance and training for newly qualified social workers.
Beyond the social work fraternity, the Academy will focus on scalability, providing development opportunities for non-social work staff to achieve continuous learning, which emphasises progressive pathways. A community of learning will be established where expertise will be shared by all staff across Children’s Services, exemplifying the Academy’s steadfast commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity within Young People’s Services.
Director of Children’s and Young People’s Service, Jenny Turnross, stated, “Our staff and students working in Children’s Services are not only knowledgeable and skilled but are also deeply compassionate and committed to helping families. We want to continue to help them grow, providing a supportive and inclusive environment with comprehensive, hands-on education and development opportunities.” The Workforce Academy will provide exceptional training and support for practitioners from their inception throughout their careers, highlighting Liverpool City Council as a leader in staff development and competency in the UK.
