SOPHIE, the late dance music pioneer who tragically passed away in 2021, is set to release her second and final record on September 27. The self-titled album will be released via Future Classic and Transgressive and features collaborations with artists like Kim Petras, BC Kingdom, and now Evita Manji with the release of her latest single ‘Berlin Nightmare’. In addition to this, the second track, ‘One More Time’, also from her posthumous album, has just been released along with an animated visualizer. Both singles were released in quick succession, with ‘One More Time’ released on July 24th, and ‘Berlin Nightmare’ on July 23rd.
The album campaign has been teasing fans with cryptic clues leading up to the release across a social media account behind ‘SOPHIE’ known as MSMSMSM FOREVER. The account has so far released information on three tracks from the album, explaining that the album was “close to completion” before SOPHIE’s death and has since been “lovingly finalized” by friends and family.
In a press statement shared last month, SOPHIE’s family confirmed that the album has always been about telling SOPHIE’s musical journey and will feature a ‘cacophony of skill and creative vision eclipsing time and genre.’ This album will be the first full-length release from SOPHIE since the passing of the music icon.
With the release of ‘One More Time’ and ‘Berlin Nightmare’, fans eagerly anticipate the rest of the singles to be released before the full album drops later this year
